Many people love the beach, so it’s no wonder that they want to incorporate a beach theme into their home. Most often, a bathroom is converted into a beach-themed room. However, with so many ideas out there on how to do so, it can be difficult to organize your thoughts and plan out a gorgeous room. Read on to find out what you can do to make your bathroom feel like it’s taken straight out of a beach house.

Color Palette

Color is a huge component when it comes to the theme of a room. For a beach theme, you’ll want to use blues, blue-greens, and neutral colors. For your walls, I suggest a light tan color that is reminiscent of the sand. For your floor, you could go with a deep blue-green. Your cabinets, trim, and sink could be white. Accents can be ocean blue or a lighter turquoise. If you want a contrasting color, a coral red will add some style without taking away from the theme.

Some colors you’ll want to avoid are neon colors, black, gray, and muted or too-dark tones.

Walls

As stated in my previous point, light tan is a great color for your bathroom’s walls, as it can still make the room look open while adding a bit of a beach feeling. However, a two-toned wall can also be a stylish choice. You can utilize white for the top half and tan, ocean blue, or sea green for the bottom. Alternatively, you could keep the walls all white with an accent wall, depending on your bathroom’s layout. Regardless of the wall’s color, you should also consider how you decorate. Lots of window space will let the sun in, which helps people think of the beach. You could also put up a framed photo of the beach. A professional piece may look more aesthetically cohesive, but don’t be afraid to use a photo from a family trip. It can give the room a bit of a homey feeling.

Decorate With Shells

Of course, a beach theme would be incomplete without shells. There are drawer pulls and knobs in shell shapes, which is a great place to start. You could also frame some shells you’ve found on the beach and hang them on the wall. If you have shelving, you could also leave a larger shell or two there to decorate.

Lighting

Lighting is another important component to the feeling of a room. A warm white light can distort colors, while a cool white can make the room feel harsh. Color-tinted bulbs can also be an option if they will not clash with a color. Do some testing to see which option works best with the room. Of course, if you have plenty of natural light, this decision may not be as impactful.

Creating a beach-themed bathroom is a dream for many, and luckily, it is easy to make it a reality. Use some of the tips above to begin changing your bathroom into a beach haven.
